Knightsbridge falls within the City of Westminster and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. Knightsbridge is also a road which runs along the south side of Hyde Park, west from Hyde Park Corner, up to Brompton Road. History of Knightsbridge
During the time of Edward I, the manor of Knightsbridge related to the abbey of Westminster. The area was named after a crossing of the River Westbourne, which is now an underground river. It is also known that the citizens of London met Matilda of England at the Knight’s Bridge in 1141. Much of the area is still owned by Earl Cadogan through the Cadogan Estate, in particular in and around Cadogan Square.

Living in Knightsbridge
As well as luxurious property, Knightsbridge probably also has the highest concentration of luxury shops and restaurants in London. The world’s most famous department store Harrods (pictured) is situated on Brompton Road and world leading fashion designers can be found along Sloane Street. Beauchamp Place and Walton Street are also home to a variety of boutique shops. Some of the best restaurants in London can be found in Knightsbridge and include: Dinner by Heston Blumenthal at The Mandarin Oriental and Japanese restaurant Zuma on Raphael street. The district borders the green spaces of Hyde Park, where one can go riding or walk to the Serpentine and boating lake. Knightsbridge is hugely popular with Middle Eastern royalty, flocking over with their supercars in tow during the summer months. Kensington and Chelsea has now pushed through a ban on revving and rapid acceleration in the borough due to all the noise complaints from local residents.
